Why is it worth cooking shish kebab in lavash
This fast and easy-to-prepare dish came to us from traditional Armenian cuisine and has already become popular with many people. This is a really light summer snack - tender pieces of meat with sauce and vegetables, framed by crispy pita bread, turn out to be mega-delicious! The dish combines everything that is needed for outdoor recreation: juicy meat goes well with vegetables, and lavash on the grill is an excellent substitute for bread.
To prepare a dish for 2-3 huge portions, you should take the following products:
- meat - 1 kilogram of pork or any other;
- onions - 2 pieces of medium size;
- lavash - 2 pieces of thin Armenian;
- lettuce leaves - 4-5 pieces;
- water - 150 milliliters;
- vinegar 9% - 2-3 tablespoons;
- black pepper - by bite;
- salt to taste.
Cooking Procedure
At the preparatory stage, the meat should be marinated so that it becomes soft and tender. If the hostess has her favorite marinade recipe, you can use it, and if not, cut the meat into pieces for a barbecue, add a little bite and refrigerate for 2 hours.
The next step is to fry the prepared meat. The best barbecue is obtained on round barbecue - the meat does not need to be pierced with skewers, it gives less juice and it turns out to be more gentle. While the kebab is fried, you should take the onion, cut it into rings and marinate in the remaining vinegar mixed with water. Its preparation time is 15-20 minutes. When the onions and kebabs are ready, we begin to assemble the dish.
The lavash leaf should be cut into two parts, if desired, it can be greased with ketchup, mayonnaise or any other sauce. Then lettuce leaves are laid out (they must be torn by hand, in no case cut with a knife so that they retain their aroma), on top - pickled onions and barbecue. To prevent the ingredients of the dish from falling out, you need to tuck the bottom layer of pita bread, then fix the sides.
Some cooks serve the dish to guests in this form, and some prefer to put the ready-made kebab in pita bread for a couple of minutes on an open fire - for this purpose it is most convenient to use braziers campfire bowls with a frying top. The fried outer crust of pita bread will add a pleasant taste and aroma to the dish. As you can see from the recipe, the preparation of this dish is not at all difficult, but you need to have a barbecue on hand and marinate the meat in advance. Bon appetit!
